Celebrate Women’s Day With Women Who Changed The Makeup World

“Fashion has two purposes: comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.” – Coco Chanel

Good fashion and good makeup is a necessity in a woman’s life. Those who don’t understand might think that it’s a vanity for women who can afford it. But those who understand, they know how much confidence and power it gives a woman when she dresses perfectly and her makeup is just right. This 8th March 2020, Meiya from the Philippines is celebrating International Women’s Day. And what better way to do it than talking about those women who once dominated and changed the whole makeup world with their makeup and cosmetic products.

Estée Lauder

One of the most famous brands of makeup still now is Estée Lauder. The founder and inspiration of it was the iconic force, Estée Lauder, herself. She was inspired by her uncle who was a chemist and first started working with lotions and skin products. She created her first fragrance which was also a bath oil, in 1953.

She started her journey in 1981, where she took 640 pounds worth of her nail polish to Las Vegas. After leaving 12 original colour samples in luxurious casino hotels and salons in Las Vegas, she got orders for more within ten days. Within months she became known for her varying shade of nail polish colour like vibrant shades, nudes, and metallics, etc.

She started as a makeup artist in the 80s and gave a natural, toned-down look to women which is vastly preferred by most even now. In 1991, she developed 10 lipsticks and a small selection of foundation sticks. Within a few years, her line of makeup and cosmetic products became so successful that it was bought by Estée Lauder. Even now, she continues to share her beauty expertise and she has already published eight books.

Elizabeth Arden

Elizabeth Arden

You must have heard the term ‘makeover’. Ever wondered who invented it? It was none other than Elizabeth Arden who made the world fall in love with makeup in the 20th century. She introduced makeup as a part of women’s everyday life. She introduced the idea of eye makeup and created rouge and powders. She has a major hand in changing the whole makeup world as we see it today. She helped empower women and taught them the value of makeup and cosmetic products in their life.

Iman

Another revolutionary woman who changed the makeup world and must be mentioned was Iman. She is a God-sent angel for women with coloured skin. Before her, no one much thought about the effect of makeup on women who don’t have white skin. She worked on makeup and cosmetic products for darker skin tones. Now, we always try to match our makeup products with our skin tone. She made that possible for African American, Asian, Latina and multi-cultural women.

These women not only revolutionized the makeup world with their makeup & cosmetic products Philippines but also became an inspiration for women. They taught that if a woman really sets her mind in doing something, she can be a force of power.
